Daniel Santos

Vice President of Operations, Brazil, and President Alcoa Brazil

Daniel Santos joined Alcoa in April 2024 in the role of Vice President of Operations – Brazil and President Alcoa Brazil. Based in São Paulo he leads Alcoa’s Brazilian operations and is a key member of the global operations leadership team.

Daniel brings more than 30 years of experience in the resources industry including time in tier 1 companies. Over many years Daniel has gained experience working in the commodity industries of phosphate, gold, iron ore, copper, nickel, tin, niobium, and tantalum. He has a deep knowledge of operations, process engineering, quality control, project management and strategic planning. He has performed a number of Board roles in multiple companies and written many technical papers.

Most recently Daniel has been CEO at Mineração Taboca where he led all areas of the business and performance.  His achievements included: improved safety performance, achieving A2S certification to install a vaccination station within the mine site, increased production, reduced production costs and debt, increased EBITDA, improved the staff engagement score along with improving the external image and reputation of Taboca. 

Daniel has a Bachelor of Mining Engineering, an MBA in Business & Strategy, and a Master of Science in Mineral Economics.
